Do all to the Glory of God

"Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God."
1 Corinthians 10:31
What does this mean exactly.  It seems to me that this means, if you are a servant of Christ, you will desire to do EVERYTHING to the glory of God and to only do that which glorifies God.   You will spend time considering if God is pleased with your use of time, consumption of food, desire for entertainment, use of HIS money, and the list goes on.  Of course rest, food, and entertainment are not sinful in themselves, but in our America Christianity we spend hours watching T.V. and yet fail to read our bibles and pray.  We eat so much food for entertainment that we have a huge population of overweight CHILDREN!  We expect that we should get rest and so we relinquish raising our children to the schools, daycare centers, video games, and television.  How does any of this glorify God?!?!  It seems as though God has in the past overlooked different sins from different generations.  We look at the kings of the old testament and how they had many wives.  We all agree that the marriage union should be one man and one woman and today there would be no debate as to if we should kick any man who had 2 wives out of our church, and yet God calls King David righteous and a man after his own heart.  We look back at the reformers and we see all the blood shed that occurred because of heretics.  I would propose that there is something like that going on today in American Christianity.  We have a HUGE blind spot.  The lavish wealth our country has afforded us, wealth we often squander it, and this has resulted in a generation that is satisfied to read a verse here and there and then spend 2 hours watching a movie that not only doesn't glorify God but doesn't even mention him.

So what do you think???
